Seiko Presage Arita Porcelain ‘Concentric’ – Craftsmanship Series SPB445J1
£1,720.00
This timepiece is from the Presage Craftsmanship Series – watches made by skilled Japanese craftspeople which complement Seiko’s watchmaking expertise.
Arita, a small town in Kyushu -third largest island in southwest Japan, came to prominence in the early 17th century when clay suitable for porcelain was discovered becoming highly prized for high quality artistry. Despite a history of over 400 years, this traditional craft has never stopped evolving in terms of materials and moulding techniques.
Under dual-curve sapphire crystal glass is an Arita porcelain blue-white dial, contrasting with deep blue accented hands and indices; traditional colours of Arita porcelain. The recessed concentric ring pattern around the centre with the recessed subdial at 6 o’clock demonstrate expert craftsmanship due to the difficulty of their creation from delicate porcelain. The case of this timepiece has a super-hard coating, allowing for improved scratch-resistance.
